St. Laurent Summer
I'm on the overnight
Through Maine
New Brunswick bound
I'm home again
Seems 'round here
Not much as changed
I need that for a while
I leave behind
No real regrets
No cityscape I can't forget
'cept for one small friend I met
Her memory makes me smile
Summertime moved slowly into fall
Summertime seemed hardly here at all
St. Laurent would smell of fish
We'd walk on summer's air so thick
Our backs were moist
Our shirts would stick
Still we plugged along
I had time to freely spend
I'd tied most of my looser ends
And I could count all of my friends
On the thumb of my right hand
Summertime moved slowly into fall
Summertime seemed hardly here at all
Within a room a candle burned
And flickered while I tried to learn
The contours of a friendship turned
Warmer with the night
We knew that both our lives were tied
Simple facts hard to deny
Maybe it makes for a smoother ride
When you know the end's in sight
Summertime moved slowly into fall
Summertime seemed hardly here at all
